The OBAN is an impressive two-masted schooner with a long tradition. Built in Emden in 1903 for herring fishing in the North Sea, she is one of the few ships of this type still in service today. She has been sailing as a passenger ship since 1984 and was taken over by her current owners Jolan Kanters and Olaf Broekstra in 1999. On board the OBAN, historic seafaring romance is combined with modern comfort. All cabins have been lovingly renovated in recent years and additional sanitary facilities have been created - so you can look forward to a pleasant and relaxed life on board. Jolan and Olaf attach great importance to ensuring that their guests want for nothing, and this is exactly what makes the OBAN the perfect ship for a relaxing sailing vacation. One highlight is the spacious "philosopher's deck" at the stern, which can accommodate up to 20 people - ideal for enjoying the fresh sea air together. In the evening, the cozy ship's saloon invites you to round off the day's sailing in a relaxed atmosphere. The open, well-equipped kitchen makes it easy to prepare culinary delights. For special moments, the foredeck can be transformed into an open-air restaurant, whether for an extensive breakfast or an atmospheric barbecue evening. There are numerous places to sit and relax all over the deck. And best of all, you don't have to worry about the little things - a beer dispenser is available on board and bed linen is already included.
