Crossing from Amsterdam to Kiel

How about a very special break at the start of the season? Join the traditional sailing ship OBAN on a unique journey from Amsterdam to Kiel – along the West and East Frisian islands, across the North Sea and finally through the Kiel Canal to the maritime state capital of Kiel.

You can expect a varied week of sailing in which active sailing and relaxing hours on deck complement each other perfectly. Feel the wind, enjoy the fresh sea air and experience the coastal landscapes from a perspective that you can only get from the water. On board, the special feeling of a traditional sailing ship awaits you. Our experienced crew will give you a warm welcome and show you everything you need to know – whether it’s how to set sail, take the helm or navigate. You will soon realize: You are not just a guest here – you are part of the crew.

On Monday morning you board the ship in Amsterdam. After being welcomed by the crew and moving into your cozy cabin for two, it’s time to cast off! Over the next few days, you will be out at sea – active, relaxing, impressive. During the day, we sail along fascinating routes. Captain Olaf will decide which ports we head for depending on the weather conditions. One thing is certain: you will get to know charming places with maritime flair, where we will moor and spend the night.

This trip also has a lot to offer in terms of cuisine. Together with the crew, you will prepare a variety of meals – and Captain Olaf is not only an experienced sailor, but also known for his cooking skills. Fresh coffee and tea are available at all times, and the evenings on board invite you to end the day in a convivial atmosphere.

After an intensive, impressive week at sea, you finally reach the Blücherbrücke in Kiel. Your journey ends here – with many new impressions, wonderful memories and the special feeling of having been part of a real crew.

If you wish, you can come on board on Sunday evening from 8 pm. The additional overnight stay including breakfast costs 65 euros per person and lets you start your sailing adventure completely relaxed.
