Get ready for a special journey on board the Oban: you will sail south from the Swedish capital Stockholm – through beautiful archipelago landscapes, across the open Baltic Sea and further along the coasts of Denmark and Germany to Rostock.
This 12-day trip combines real sailing with relaxed moments on board and exciting stopovers in charming coastal towns. You are part of the crew – whether setting sail, navigating or cooking – and at the same time you have enough space to enjoy the tranquillity of the sea and the togetherness on a traditional sailing ship.
Your adventure begins in Stockholm – a city that inspires with its islands, historic streets and modern lifestyle. Once you have settled into your cozy cabin, you will get to know the ship, the crew and your fellow sailors in a relaxed atmosphere. Then it’s time to cast off! Captain Olaf will discuss the route with you, which – in the spirit of a real sailing trip – will depend on the wind and weather.
You first glide through the Swedish archipelago before heading out into the open Baltic Sea. The Oban heads for small harbors, sheltered bays or even a quiet anchorage. The crossings can sometimes be calm, sometimes sporty – but always full of impressive views and nature experiences.
Together with the crew, you prepare fresh meals, and a familiar, cheerful onboard community quickly develops. In the evening, you sit together on deck or in the cozy saloon, chat, laugh, cook or simply watch the sunset.
You spend the nights in a comfortable 2-person cabin, where you can retreat and relax – ready for new adventures the next day.
Whether you already have sailing experience or are taking part for the first time – everyone is welcome on this trip. The only important thing is that you are keen to get moving, enjoy the company and the real feeling of sailing. As the ship will anchor from time to time and you will take the dinghy ashore, you should be physically fit enough to get on and off the boat safely. Longer sailing distances are also possible – but with the fresh breeze in your face, the hours often fly by.
A very special highlight awaits you at the end of your trip: you arrive in Rostock just in time for the Hanse Sail – one of the largest maritime festivals in Europe. Hundreds of traditional sailing ships, windjammers and museum ships gather in the city harbor – an impressive experience for anyone who loves the sea. If you like, stay in Rostock for a few more days and experience the unique atmosphere of this great seafaring festival. It’s well worth it!
