Imagine this: You sail out into the Wadden Sea on a traditional tall ship, watch the water slowly recede – and suddenly you’re standing on the seabed. This natural wonder is called falling dry, and you’re right in the middle of it!

The Wadden Sea has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2009 – a unique place full of life, vastness and magic. Ideal for mudflat hiking, marveling and discovering.

Together with the skipper and sailor, you will sail to one of the most beautiful places in the Wadden Sea during a day trip. There you will experience a guided mudflat hike – barefoot through the mudflats, accompanied by exciting stories and fascinating insights into this special ecosystem.

You watch the water disappear, walk across the seabed, enjoy dinner with only 30 cm of water under the boat – and watch the sea slowly return. The weather and tides even allow for a little sailing at the end.

Falling dry and mudflat hiking – an experience you won’t soon forget.

This beautiful, stately Baltic ejalk LARUS was built in 1893 at the Pattje shipyard in Waterhuizen. After long service as a cargo ship, she was first used as a houseboat and then converted into a charter ship in 1987. The cabins and the lounge in the former cargo hold have been renovated in recent years. In the newly designed rooms, the ship's atmosphere of the 19th century goes hand in hand with modern comfort. The interior of the Larus is characterized by beautiful natural light and an intimate, cosy atmosphere. There is hot and cold running water in the spacious, high cabins and the well-equipped, open kitchen with six-burner stove and (convection) oven makes every cook feel in their element. The spacious deck with wide gangways offers plenty of freedom of movement and space to sit. This makes the LARUS the ideal ship for young and old. Sailing actively, sitting comfortably in the sun, chatting animatedly and enjoying the beautiful Wadden Sea - all this and much more is possible on board. The LARUS is a maneuverable and reliable ship for cruises in one of the most beautiful natural areas in Europe, the Wadden Sea with the Wadden Islands, whatever the weather. Look forward to sailing to the Wadden Islands, falling dry and walking on a sandbank or enjoying the view of the old harbors on the Ijsselmeer from on board. The experienced, dedicated crew will be happy to welcome you on board and familiarize you in a relaxed manner with the 'sailing feeling of yesteryear' and the tricks of the trade. Like so many before you, you will quickly feel at home on board the LARUS.
