The STORTEMELK was laid down in 1961 as a North Sea fishing vessel and converted into a two-masted schooner with a length of 40 meters in 1992. In the high season, the ship mainly sails from Kiel on the German and Danish Baltic Sea and can often be found in Sweden in July.
The STORTEMELK owes its name to the turbulent fairway between the Dutch Wadden Sea islands of Terschelling and Vlieland. The strait with its shallows seemed like foaming milk (Stortemelk) to sailors when the water was running out and a north-westerly wind was blowing.
The sleek lines and effective rigging give her a simple sportiness, while the luxurious interior is characterized by comfort. A few years ago, the Stortemelk was extensively refitted with great attention to detail. The conversion has resulted in a completely new sanitary area and three larger double cabins.
The Stortemelk not only has plenty of comfortable seating on deck, the ship’s saloon also invites you to socialize. The adjoining galley is superbly equipped.
The very experienced and dedicated owners Mike and Marly exude the belief that sailing is their life. They also ensure that the ship is in top condition at all times. This guarantees an unforgettable sailing adventure.
