Baltic Sea adventure: From Rostock to Kiel

In August, it’s “cast off” again on board the Stortemelk – this time the sailing trip takes you from the Hanseatic city of Rostock along the German Baltic coast to Kiel. This five-day trip offers a perfect mix of active sailing, relaxed life on board and little discoveries along the way.

You board the ship in Rostock on Sunday evening. The crew gives you a warm welcome, you move into your cabin and get to know your fellow sailors. The route for the coming days is discussed with the captain. The exact course will depend on the wind and weather – it is possible to sail via coastal towns such as Warnemünde, Heiligenhafen or the Danish South Sea, provided the conditions are suitable.

The sailing adventure begins on Monday morning after breakfast. After a short briefing on safety and sailing techniques, you set sail together with the crew. It is entirely up to you whether you want to actively participate – steering, setting sails and maneuvering – or prefer to relax on deck and enjoy the vastness. During the day we sail along the varied coastal landscape, in the evening the ship moors in a harbor or anchors in a sheltered bay. You will spend the night on board in comfortable cabins.

The cruise ends on Friday in Kiel, where you disembark after five eventful days.

The price includes accommodation in 2- or 3-person cabins, all port charges, fuel costs and final cleaning. Catering on board is organized via a joint on-board fund, the contribution is 125 euros per person and is paid in cash on board. Children stay overnight in their parents’ cabin. On request, comforters and towels can be rented for 20 euros per person.

Sailing skills are not required – the experienced crew will be happy to show you all the ropes. Whether you want to sail along actively or simply enjoy the peace and quiet at sea: This trip offers the ideal opportunity to experience late summer on the water.
