Join us on an exciting sailing trip from Kiel to Brest aboard a traditional sailing ship. This journey takes you along the coasts of the Netherlands, Belgium, and France and offers the perfect opportunity to experience life and work on a traditional sailing ship up close. The destination is the famous Sail Brest, one of Europe’s largest gatherings of traditional sailing ships.
The focus of this trip is actively sailing along with the crew. Together with the crew, you’ll set sail, assist with maneuvers, and learn the routines on board. As part of the crew, all guests are expected to pitch in. Therefore, you should be in good physical condition and enjoy being active as well as life at sea.
After setting sail from Kiel, it’s time to cast off and head west! The route takes you across the North Sea along the Dutch coast, past Belgium, and on along the French Channel coast toward Brittany. Weather, wind, and tides determine the exact course of the journey. Along the way, you’ll experience impressive coastal landscapes and the unique atmosphere of traditional sailing.
On board, you’ll live according to the ship’s rhythm. Together with the crew and fellow sailors, you’ll help shape daily life at sea, assist with meal preparation , and enjoy the camaraderie that quickly develops on a long-distance voyage. Coffee and tea are always available, while the evenings provide a chance for tall tales, technical discussions, and relaxed conversations.
After sailing many nautical miles together, you’ll finally arrive in Brest. There, the unique setting of Sail Brest awaits you, featuring hundreds of traditional ships from around the world—the perfect finale to an unforgettable journey.
