A Day at Sea: Our Team Event on the Oban
After a few team-building days with our law firm on land, we deliberately wanted to try something different. So we sought advice from TSC, and it quickly became clear that a day on a sailboat was just the thing for us. Last week, the time had finally come. As a team, we boarded the Oban and went on a day cruise in Kiel from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. We were already really excited as soon as we arrived.
Out of the harbor, into the adventure
At first, some of us were still a little unsure, since not everyone had sailing experience and we didn’t know exactly what to expect. But those doubts vanished immediately. Jolan and Olaf gave us such a warm welcome that we felt right at home.
After a brief orientation, we were off and running. Anyone who wanted to could jump right in and help with casting off. It felt really great—not just to be there, but to truly become part of the whole experience. No sooner had we left the harbor than everything suddenly went quiet. There was nothing but the water, the wind, and the ship. We sailed past the lighthouse and then out further onto the Baltic Sea. That moment almost felt a little like freedom.
Sailing, Sun, and Relaxation
During the trip, we were able to help out with the sailing time and again. At the same time, there was plenty of time to just unwind. Conversations became more in-depth, everyday life faded completely into the background, and the hours flew by far too quickly. At lunchtime, we had a really delicious meal below deck made with fresh ingredients. Afterward, everyone found their own spot. Some enjoyed the sun on deck, while others wanted to keep participating in the activities. Everything was optional—nothing was required.

A Day That Brings Us Together
The atmosphere on board was relaxed and open the whole time. It was nice to see how quickly we got to know each other in a new way as a team. In the afternoon, we headed back to Kiel. We were relaxed, with the sun on our faces, and—most of all—big smiles. Even those who were a bit apprehensive at first were thrilled by the end. We’d like to take this opportunity to once again thank the lovely Ms. Brohl from the booking office, who put our fears of seasickness to rest!
This day brought us even closer together as a team. It was nice to see everyone hanging out together in a relaxed yet busy atmosphere. One thing is for sure: this won’t be our last time at Oban.
