Bonte Piet

The BONTE PIET is a cargo sailing ship that was originally built in 1925 in Hoogezand near Groningen as a cargo sailing ship with an auxiliary engine and christened “De Tijd Zal’t Leeren” (Time will tell).

This cargo ship was in service until after the end of the Second World War. It mainly transported sugar beet and other agricultural products. In the years that followed, faster means of transportation with more cargo space were in demand. The age of sailing was over…

By the end of the eighties, the ship had become outdated and was converted into a residential vessel. In the nineties, the owners of this beautiful ship began to feel the itch to sail. It was brought back to life and converted into a charter ship. Thanks to her shallow draught, the BONTE PIET is ideal for trips across sandbanks. Thanks to her good sailing characteristics and competent crew, she is now a showpiece on the Wadden Sea. The Wadden Sea, with its constantly changing tides and meandering currents, is one of the most beautiful natural areas in Europe and at the same time the cradle of new life in the sea.

The ship has room for up to 12 people and its cruising area is the Wadden Sea, the IJsselmeer and inland waters.

The lounge is spacious and bright, and the galley is fully equipped. On board there is hot and cold running water, a shower and a toilet as well as a 24-volt power connection.
