Catering & galley

Galley equipment:

The galley is equipped with a refrigerator, a stove, an oven, pots, pans, casserole dishes, cutlery and all kitchen utensils such as spatulas, cooking spoons, etc.

You have booked self-catering with TSC:

You do not have to worry about the purchase and delivery of your food and hygiene items (toilet paper, bin liners, etc.). You may stow the food on board yourself so that you can find everything again. You will have the recipes for preparing the meals. If something is missing / has not been delivered: Don’t get angry, but buy the missing product and hand in the receipt to us. Bon appétit!

You have booked the catering including cook with TSC:
You will be pampered on board and do not have to take care of the preparation of the food yourself. The chef will need your help to set and clear the tables and wash up. Enjoy your meal!

You cater for yourself and take care of the shopping:
If you have ordered food from a retailer, please state the address of the pier and the name of the ship. You should also be on board at the time of delivery. Please don’t forget to take toiletries such as toilet paper, kitchen roll, bin liners (120 l), hand soap and spices on board. Fresh bread is great for the start of the trip. For the rest of the trip, we recommend baked rolls, as there is not a bakery within walking distance in every port. For lunch, we recommend easy-to-prepare dishes or stews that can be prepared the evening before, as it can be difficult or even impossible to prepare them on the water in windy conditions.

Drinks & dispensing system

Water:
The tap water on board almost all our ships is drinking water (exception: “Zuiderzee” and “Albert Johannes”). Please take reusable bottles with you to fill up on your own and refrain from bringing water from plastic bottles. For sparkling water, you can bring a SodaStream, for example.

Coffee:
Your ship has a coffee machine (filter coffee). The filters for this are already on board, so you don’t need to bring them with you.

Beer:
Your ship has a beer dispenser. The beer (30-liter keg) must be purchased on board. Please let us know up to two weeks before embarkation how many barrels you will need. A keg of beer costs between €100 and €130 and is payable in cash on board. For small groups or only a few beer drinkers, we can of course make special arrangements with you. Just let us know in advance. For trips with school classes, the beer tap will be disconnected.

Other drinks:
You are welcome to bring your own drinks (soft drinks, wine, etc.). If you would also like to purchase these drinks on board, please let us know at least three weeks before departure and we will be happy to take care of it.

Cabin layout

Relaxen auf einem Großsegler während des Segelns

For a relaxed embarkation, we recommend that you arrange your cabins in advance. You are welcome to use our floor plans including cabin layout.

You can find the PDF file for download on the page of your booked ship: https://www.t-s-c.de/unsere-schiffe/

If the ship you have booked is not included, simply look at the ship’s page for the floor plan and make your cabin allocation based on the floor plan.

Tip: The cabins close to the day room should be occupied by those who tend to go to bed later.

Itinerary/ Possible destinations & ports

“We sail wherever the wind takes us.” This statement is often ridiculed in advance, but it is 100% true. All our ships are traditional sailing vessels and the port of destination is determined by the wind and weather. For this reason, we recommend that all our guests do not commit themselves too much to specific ports of destination in advance, but rather agree these with the captain on board from day to day in the morning.

Of course, there are possible destinations that your starting port normally calls at. You can find them here: https://www.t-s-c.de/infos/segelgebiete/

As a rule, departure takes place in the morning between 09 – 11 a.m. and the port of destination is reached in the afternoon/early evening.

Possible additional costs on board

Die Traditionssegler von TSC am Anleger der Kieler Förde
On the Baltic Sea/Danish South Sea, port fees are paid in cash on board. Depending on the port and the size of the ship, the port fees are approx. 60€ – 120€/night.   If you need additional engine hours (for example, if you want to sail to a destination that is against the wind direction), the engine hours are approx. 40€ – 80€ depending on the size of the boat. The captain will discuss this with you in advance.   The final cleaning fee is paid in cash on board in the amount agreed in the contract (€100 – €220). On some ships, the final cleaning is already included – this is also specified in the contract.

Problem solutions

We want to pull together with you! And that doesn’t just apply on board our sailing ships when hoisting and hauling in the sails.

If there is a problem during your sailing trip, please do not be afraid to talk to the crew about it. This is the only way the crew of the ship can react directly and work on solving the problem.

These can be technical problems (e.g. a non-functioning drain) or personal issues. We want you to have a good and enjoyable time on board and are happy to work with you if there are any discrepancies or defects.
